JVC Point of View and HD on SD

The JVC GY-100 1/3” HD camera records on SDHC memory cards in the EX or MPEG2 QuickTime formats. These formats are the same as the 100’s big brother, the GY-700. The 100 is a perfect companion camera for an electronic journalist.

The 700 is a full-featured HD camcorder with modern workflow and economies in-check. This unit is less than $8,500 with the lens and there are attractive incentive programs for broadcasters. The largest trend-setting feature is the use of off-the-shelf SD memory. At 35 Mb/s HD the camera can record up to 20 minutes on a $10 SDHC 8 GB card or 40 minutes and a $25 16 GB card. By following the consumer curve this camera can lower our costs and allow modern workflow and processes.
